Rebecca Saunders’ television work includes singing the music for Channel 4 productions Astronauts and Westminster Women. She performs regularly in the UK, and has also performed and broadcast in Holland and Germany. She specialises in early music and has a particular interest in the music of the Restoration theatre. Her Baroque opera roles include Zealota in Grabu’s Albion and Albanius directed by Anthony Rooley at Dartington, Venus in Blow’s Venus and Adonis at the York Early Music Festival, and in Purcell’s King Arthur, directed by Peter Holman. She has also sung with the Rose Consort of Viols, Yorkshire Bach Choir, and leading roles with Opera Restor’d. Rebecca studied at the University of Huddersfield and the Royal College of Music. Whilst at the RCM she was awarded the Century Fund and Richard III Prizes for Early Music.
